...coaching in the local Primary Schools
Your team of coaches and assistants from the club are once again promoting tennis, specifically Congresbury Tennis Club and its Mini Tennis Awards Coaching programme to 6 local primary schools....St Andrew's Junior and Glebe Infant, St Anne's (Hewish), Churchill Primary, Yatton Junior and Yatton Infant...with the possibility of others to be added.
The plan is to inspire youngsters (and their parents and teachers!) to come and join us as members and to take part in our coaching and competitive programmes.
Each school gets a series of 7 weeks, 2 hours per week, where we introduce mini tennis to between 30 and 90 children in each school in a planned set of taster lessons and fun activities. This year we plan to join forces with the local Sports Partnership's School Sport Coordinators in arranging Tennis 'Festivals' at the end of each term, which will offer the children the chance to compete in a fun way with other schools in their 'cluster'. We can also spot talent and target our efforts at recruiting keen, budding stars to our club!
This programme has been made possible by a generous grant of government's PESSCL (PE, School Sport and Club Links) funding, via the Avon LTA, who wish to support and build on our own venture last year, which had been funded by Parish Council grants.
